Amber spent almost 20 years as a teacher for children in preschool-5th grade, with her curriculum heavily influenced by art and creative expression. Her educational background is in creative writing and she’s had poetry published in multiple publications and also self-published a compilation of work from artists and writers around the world to benefit the charity Love146 (a non-profit providing prevention and aftercare services for children that have been exploited or trafficked).

Amber began pursuing her own art more seriously in 2014 and has since participated in multiple art shows and had art displayed in galleries: participating artist in the New Haven City Wide Open Studios (multiple years); work displayed in the New Haven Artspace Gallery (2018, 2019, and 2020); Meliora Art Show (Wallingford, CT, 2019 and 2021); RAW Art Show (Wallingford, CT, 2019); multiple art markets in Connecticut.

Amber believes anything can be turned into art or be made to sparkle. She specializes in mixed media portraits where she seeks to bring each individual’s beauty, wonder and dreaming to light, but also likes to dabble in a little of everything else.

She tries to live by the words of Rumi: “Wherever you stand, be the soul of that place” and focuses her art around the words of Elsie de Wolfe: “I’m going to make everything around me beautiful, that will be my life.”

She loves pasta (especially with Marcos’s homemade alfredo), horses, New York City, the stars, the color pink, and glitter, and runs almost solely on Dr Pepper. You can see more of her art here.
